Goutam Das
​Goutam Das is a distinguished artist and faculty member at Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, whose creative journey spans ceramics, bronze sculpture, stoneware, and painting. His artistic explorations reveal a deep engagement with material and form, reflecting both tradition and experimentation. Over the years, he has exhibited widely across India and abroad, earning recognition for his mastery and versatility.

A graduate of Kala Bhavana, he was awarded the National Scholarship by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development in 1990, marking the beginning of an illustrious career that bridges teaching and artistic practice. His works have been showcased in prestigious venues, including solo and sponsored exhibitions by the Birla Academy of Art & Culture and the British Council in Kolkata, New Delhi, and Chennai.

Recipient of the Charles Wallace Trust Arts Award in Ceramics at the Edinburgh College of Art, Heriot-Watt University (U.K.), he has represented India in several international platforms, including the International Triennial Ceramics Workshop organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi. His creative footprint extends to architectural commissions such as terracotta murals for the British Council Office in New Delhi (designed by Charles Correa) and the State Bank of India, Santiniketan Branch.

In recent years, his artistic pursuits have taken him to South Korea, China, Sri Lanka and Thailand, enriching his visual vocabulary and reaffirming his standing as a global artist rooted in the spirit of Santiniketan.
