Rameshwar Broota
The human male figure is the central object of artist Rameshwar Broota’s artistic contemplation. The relentless march of time and the indelible scars it leaves is witnessed in the evolution and deterioration of the human form more starkly than in other manifestations of life. The fitness and muscularity of the male body at its youthful peak representing endless possibility seen in contrast to its weakened and emaciated version as it enters its twilight years is a testament to the eventual decline of all life forms great and small.

This nuanced and subtle story of the inevitable change that overcomes all life is what Rameshwar hopes to convey through his striking and memorable paintings that touch the eye and all other senses at once. They are executed using a technique and process that is very unique to the artist. It involves a laying down of multiple layers of color, after which the top most layers are scraped off in a studied and pre-meditated way to reveal a symphony of captivating forms and colors beneath, an unearthing of luminous images as it were, that lay buried in the sands of an enchanting beauty.

Rameshwar Broota is a native of Delhi where he continues to live and work.
