Sailesh BO

Sailesh BO is an Indian contemporary artist from Shimoga, Karnataka, whose practice spans painting, sculpture and installation. Trained in painting at Karnataka University, where he completed his BFA in 1994, his work is recognised for its introspective realism and conceptual depth. From a categorical perspective, his practice can be viewed as figurative, often engaging with themes of inner reflection, strength and the human condition.

Sailesh has presented numerous solo exhibitions across India and abroad, including Mirrors in the Mind (Art Houz, Chennai, 2012), Crossing the Pathway (Frome, UK), Mystic Realism – Sculptures (New Delhi, 2009), and a series of exhibitions at Ashvita Gallery, Chennai. His installations have been showcased at institutions such as the Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan, Chennai, Amethyst, Chennai, and Art Konsult, New Delhi.

His contributions have been recognised with several awards and grants, including the Best Entry Award at the Camel Art Foundation (2012), the Association of British Scholars Travel Grant (UK, 2009), the S.L.B.A. Award (France, 2008), and the Sri H. K. Kejriwal Young Artist Award. Sailesh’s sustained practice reflects a continued exploration of material, form and meaning within contemporary Indian art.
